When considering an otoscope purchase, a question that needs to

where it is needed. In the case of direct illumination, the light
source is located in the top part of the instrument head and thus
in the examiner’s field of view.
In otoscopes with fibre optic technology, such as this model,
the light source can be found in the neck of the otoscope. The
light is directed through the bundled glass fibres so as to
guarantee an unrestricted view and even, reflex-free illumination.
