Speaksee captures the speech in conversations and transcribes it into text on a smartphone or computer - all in real time! This way people with hearing loss can read what's being said. There are several speech-to-text providers on the market but very few are designed specifically for deaf and hard of hearing people, and even fewer still that come from a company with actual experience of hearing loss. The Speaksee team have all either lived with someone close to them who is deaf or are deaf themselves.

Using cutting edge, beamforming technology, Speaksee microphones are able to isolate the speaker’s voice, filter noise, and extract the best possible audio quality before converting to text. This method ensures our customers get the best possible accuracy levels (consistently at 95%) even in situations with lots of background noise.

Qualified Communication Support Professionals provide a valuable service which in some circumstances may be more appropriate, depending on a person’s individual needs and preferences. Automatic captioning systems like Speak See offer a different type of solution.

While automatic captioning systems are continuously evolving, they may not always identify all uncommon words. A useful feature of Speak See is that up to 500 words can be added to the dictionary for each user to ensure that your most commonly used words, such as proper names, acronymns and technical terms are accurately recognised. To do this, all you need to do is email them with a list of the words you would like to add.

Speaksee can identify each microphone individually and shows the text in different colours on the smart device. This way it is easy to see which person is speaking both at the time and in the transcript.

The text is displayed either in an app (iOS or Android) or on an internet broswer. When used through a browser you can download and save a copy of the transcript - perfect for note-taking.

Speaksee comes as a subscription service and we supply different bundles, depending on how many hours you use it. This is our student/work bundle that includes an unlimited full 12 months licence and a remote training video call with one of our team to help you get it set up and understand how to make the best use of it. Note: As part of the supply of this bundle, we will need to share your contact details with Speaksee (only) and you will receive activation emails direct from Speaksee within 24 hours of receipt of the microphone kit.

Speaksee Microphone
Speaksee uses an array of sensors, the microphone intelligently isolates and captures speech from the user and rejects noise from other sources. Three microphones are included in the standard kit however more than one kit can be used together and the system supports up to 9 microphones at a time.

Speaksee Dock
Receives wireless audio signals from the microphones; processes conversational dynamics and sends audio data to your smart device for transcription. It also stores and charges the microphones.

Where can I use the Speaksee App?
The Speaksee text display software can be used on a variety of devices. The Speaksee app is available for iOS and Android devices eg. smartphone or tablet. For desktops and laptops, it can be used through a browser, giving users maximum flexibility on where and how to read the captions.

The Speaksee Microphone Kit includes: 1 x charging dock, 3 x microphones, 9 x coloured picks, 3 x magnetic neckstraps, 1 x UK plug, 1 x USB-C cable, 1 x carry case, user instructions. Also includes full 1 year licence, remote training video call.

Multiple microphone system can support group discussion
The Speaksee Microphone Kit system supports up to 9 microphones at a time, making it a great solution for use in large group conversations. During conversations, subtitles are displayed in different coloured speech bubbles for each participant. This patented approach makes following a conversation much easier for the user, even when people are talking all at once!

Personal dictionary
Speaksee allows the user to personalise their dictionary with up to 500 new words. This serves to further increase accuracy and is particularly useful for people that use a lot of acronyms or difficult vocabulary.

Data security
All Speaksee data communications are software and hardware encrypted and managed by dedicated servers to ensure absolute privacy for our customers regardless of the conversation topic.

FAQs

How is Speaksee different from other speech-to-text apps? There are two major differences that sets Speaksee apart: 1. Speaksee uses microphones that are placed near the speaker's mouth to capture speech. This means you won't have to ask everyone in your group to download an app and wait for them to install it and then explain how it works, instead, just hand out the microphones and carry on with the conversation! 2. Speaksee works when there is background noise, like in restaurants. Our microphones use sophisticated beam forming algorithms that isolate the speech and leave out background noise. This enhances accuracy of the transcripts, even in noisy environments.

Do third parties have access to what’s being said in my meetings?
The audio files and transcripts are processed automatically and securely using end-to-end encryption. Third parties do not have access to any of the personal conversations.

Do I always need internet access?
Yes. The Microphone Kit always requires an internet connection. There are 2 ways to connect the Microphone Kit with the internet:
Bluetooth: Connection via Bluetooth will allow you to only connect the Microphone Kit to your smart device and directly use the internet connection of your smart device. It radically simplifies the way to connect, making it easy to connect everywhere you go.
Wi-Fi: Connection via Wi-Fi will connect the Microphone Kit directly to a Wi-Fi network. When the Microphone Kit is in Wi-Fi mode, you will have to connect the Microphone Kit to a new network connection, each time you visit a new location. We advise you to use the Microphone Kit in Bluetooth connection mode if you want to use the Microphone Kit in different locations.

How much data does the Microphone Kit consume?
The Microphone Kit consumes 40MB per hour, similar to apps like Spotify allowing you to stream carefree via your mobile data.

What is the range of the Microphones?
The microphones will work up to around 25m from the docking unit. The docking unit requires mains power and needs to be winin range of an internet connection at all times.

Can I save the transcripts?
Yes, however you can only save the transcripts via the web browser (not the app version). The transcripts do not save automatically, for privacy and security.

Can I also use Speaksee to translate?
You can also use Speaksee to have your subtitles directly translated into another language.

Can I use the Microphone Kit on multiple devices?
The microphone kit can be used on multiple devices eg. laptop, smartphone, tablet. Please note that the verification code can only be used once and that you must log in with the same Speaksee account on all devices.

How long does the battery of the microphones last?
The microphones' battery life is approximately up to 4 hours. Afterwards, the microphones must be charged again.
